As part of the Immigrant Workers Freedom Ride across the US in late Sept 2003, Centro Sin Fronteras mobilized 2 buses from Chicago and the Puerto Rican Cultural Center sent a small solidarity contingent. The Freedom Ride I went on made stops in 9 cities in 8 days across the country. We ended in Flushing, NY where over 100,000 people rallied. I was asked to write a piece for Latino Journal, which, as I wrote it, turned out to be more introspective than I would have thought. I also asked my compañero, spoken word artist, playwright and activist and co-founder of the Batey Urbano in Chicago, Michael Reyes, to co-write the monograph. Download it here.
